"crown/VR/ENFIELD" marked at the center of the lock and "1842" date marked ahead. Crown proofs marked at the breech, on the lock, and on the left stock flat. "I.C.R" marked behind a circled Enfield stamp on the right of the buttstock. "28/267" marked on the buttplate tang. "GDM" (George D. Moller) collection initials marked at the toe of the stock. Includes socket bayonet and leather sling. Provenance: The George Moller Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 75% plus original blue finish on the barrel with smooth brown patina on the balance, some muzzle wear from bayonet mounting, a light patch of pitting on the middle of the barrel, casehardened lock turned to a smooth gray patina, and crisp markings overall in the metal. Brass fittings retain an attractive bright patina. Stock is also very fine with defined edges, numerous scattered light dents and scratches, and crisp markings. Mechanically excellent. Included bayonet is very fine.
