Manufactured in 1906. Pinned blade W.F. Sheard front sight, folding adjustable leaf Marbles rear sight, saddle ring and carbine stock. The left side of the receiver is stamped "FROM W.F. SHEARD/TACOMA, WASH." William F. Sheard (1861-1932) was a gunsmith and sight designer who lived in Montana c. 1884-1895 until he moved to Tacoma, Washington, where this carbine was retailed.
Fine, retaining 40% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina and some pitting on the buttplate. 20% original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. The refinished wood is very good with a couple of hairline cracks, a couple filled repairs and scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
