Description:

The Norwegian Kongsberg Model 1912 was a copy of the U.S. Model 1911 pistol used by the Norwegian army. This Model 1912 features a slide dated "1917" as well as "(1926)" on the right side. The included correspondence with author Karl Egil Hanevik explains this pistol was originally sent, in 1917, to Raufoss to be an ammunition test pistol. It was then sent back to Kongsberg for repairs. These repairs included replacement of nearly the entire slide assembly. The left side of the slide is marked with the caliber, model, and single digit serial number marking with the monogram of King Haakon and the Kongsberg Crest. Inspection mark below the dates and behind the rear sight. Matching serial numbers found on slide, frame, trigger, hammer, safety, slide stop, mainspring housing, grip safety, ejector, magazine catch, firing pin stop, barrel, barrel bushing, and recoil spring guide. Includes a factory letter and plaque giving the gun's history, as well as the aforementioned correspondence. This pistol is photographed and documented on page 74 of "Kongsberg Colten by Karl Egil Hanevik.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal rebuilt, retaining 95% plus phosphate finish with handling marks, some scattered light pitting on the slide, and. Grips are very good with some worn spots in the checkering.
