Description:

The artwork was done by Robert Farrington Elwell (1874-1962) and has his signature on the right side. He illustrated some of the advertising and publicity for Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and became Cody's friend and was introduced to Frederic Remington, Theodore Roosevelt, Annie Oakley (she even taught his daughter how to shoot), and others. Most of his artwork involves romantic scenes from the Old West. The banner was printed by Grinnell Lithograph Co. (active 1910-1940s) and has their marking in the lower left and "C.S. 59" in the lower right. The banner itself measures 56 3/4 inches wide and 27 inches tall while the frame measures 61 3/4 wide and 32 inches tall. Provenance: The Doug Ellison Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good, showing nice coloring and some scattered minor staining and light wear. The frame is very fine with some scattered light handling marks.
