Description:

This cane was likely made in the late 1890s or early 1900s, most likely in Germany, as it features a relief carved bust of Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898), the powerful leader behind the unification of the German Empire. The antique ivory handle is "L" shaped, with the bust of Bismarck on the vertical portion carved in high relief. Directly below the handle is an floral engraved gilded band with the initials "JMO" engraved in script. The shaft is made of a light springy wood and tipped with dark horn.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall, the handle showing an attractive lightly aged appearance with some scattered hairline age cracks, some scattered light chipping of the enamel and light handling marks on the shaft, and a couple minor hairline cracks and chips in the horn tip.
