Manufactured in 1884, the first year of production. The top barrel flat is marked with the standard two-line address and caliber marking at the breech, Rampant Colt on the left of the frame, and serial number on the lower tang. Fitted with Lyman beaded blade front and elevation adjustable notch rear sights. Mounted with a finely figured checkered slide handle and pistol grip stock with a crescent buttplate.
Fine, retains 40% plus of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina with a few scattered small patches of very light surface pitting. The barrel and magazine have been shortened. The wood is also fine with some minor dings and scratches scattered throughout and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
