The barrel flares out to 1 inch at the muzzle but is likely about half that in breech section. The right side of the barrel is marked "8181" followed by a triangle and there are three crossbow shaped marks and a relief "crown/R" mark at the breech, indicating it was produced by the King's royal armory in France, likely for Turkish nobility, c. 1750-1800. The barrel also has inlaid scroll designs. The lock is marked "P. DEO" and is engraved with floral scroll patterns. The furniture is all "white metal" and includes Ottoman style designs, including crescent moon and arms designs, along with a "wild man" pommel cap. The stock has nearly full coverage wire and pin inlays consisting of mainly floral and scroll patterns along with additional crescent moons and arms.
Good with gray patina and moderate oxidation/pitting, bright furniture and inlays, refinished and repaired stock with slivers of wire absent, some chips and slivers absent from the edges, and general moderate overall wear. Mechanically fine.
