Blued Krupp-Laufstahl barrels with beaded blade front and automatic flip up rear sights on the matted, solid rib which is marked with the caliber, standard barrel markings and German proofs, and 65 mm ( 2 1/2 inch) chambers with single extractor. The scalloped, sideclipped boxlock action displays beautiful game scenes surrounded by floral scroll. The left has a pair of dogs flushing mallards, the underside shows a stag, and the right has a pair of roe deer and three partridges. The engraving was carried out when the gun was completed in 1944 by Master Engraver Fritz Berkes per included correspondence between the consignor and Dietrich Apel (founder of the German Gun Collectors Association). Lightly figured, multi-point checkered forend with Deeley latch and pistol grip stock. Includes a leather bound mutton leg case. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 3/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lb. 1 oz.
Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with some scratches and spotting toward the muzzles, 98% original case colors, and light handling evidence. The wood is very fine with a few light marks and crisp checkering. The case is very good with detached handle (included). Mechanically excellent.
