Manufactured in 1927, the included factory letter lists this revolver in .38 caliber, 4 inch barrel (likely a factory error), nickel finish, checkered wood grips, and "S.P.D. #39 on the butt of the revolver" when it was shipped to Albert W. Tansend, Mayor, City of Saginaw, Michigan on 29 December 1927 in a shipment of 40 guns. Apart from the butt which is marked "S.P.D. No.39", it has standard markings and has since been fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips with Colt medallions. Very fine, retains 85% plus of the original nickel finish, much of which shows a slightly frosted appearance, and some areas of loss showing mostly a brown patina. The replacement grips are fine with some age related cracks mostly in the butts and otherwise light handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. The gun belt and holster are both very fine with some mild wear.
