Description:

Manufactured from 1938 to 1940, this is one of only 112 .45-.22 Conversion Units manufactured by Colt. These conversion units were intended to be used to convert the Colt Ace Service Model pistol, which was chambered in .22 LR, to .45 ACP. None of these units were officially procured by the U.S. military, though some were sold to individual officers. The slide included in the set is marked with the serial number "U66" on top, the two-line address and patent dates on the left, and "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE.45/CONVERSION UNIT .45-.22" on the right. The slide is fitted with serrated blade front and adjustable notch rear sights. Also included is a recoil spring with plug and guide, .45 ACP barrel with polished chamber, slide stop, and a .45 ACP magazine. Includes an original Colt factory box marked for a .22-.45 Service Model Conversion Unit with the number "U66" penciled in the lid interior. Provenance: The Dr. Robert Azar Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 99% plus of the original blue finish on the slight with a few scattered light handling marks with the other components showing some very light wear. The box is fine with some mild wear and the corners of the lid separated.
