Manufactured in 1941, this is a very fine example of a World War II-era commercial Colt Government Model pistol that is fitted with a Swartz safety device. The left side of the slide has the two-line address/patent dates and the right side has the caliber marking followed by a Rampant Colt. The left of the trigger guard is marked "T/VP" and the right is marked "69". The right side of the frame has the Government Model marking over the serial number. The barrel is marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on the bottom left and "S" in front of the lug with a polished chamber. It has the "improved model" features including the short checkered trigger, wide checkered hammer, dished frame sides, and arched checkered mainspring housing with a lanyard loop. Very fine, retains 85% of the original blue finish with the balance having mostly thinned to a smooth grey patina, primarily on edges, some spotting on top of the slide, and the grip straps. The grips are very good with moderate checkering wear overall and a few scattered minor blemishes in the balance of the checkering. Mechanically excellent.
