Manufactured in 1966. From 1960 to 1969 the U.S. Air Force purchased a large quantity of S&W Model 15 series revolvers with 4 inch barrel, target trigger, target hammers and Magna grips, most were shipped to Warner Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, home to a U.S.A.F. logistic center, and were generally carried by security personnel. Standard S&W markings with the addition of "U.S.A.F." on the left side of the frame. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, ejector star and inside of the frame. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration as well as shipment on 29 July 1966 to the previously mentioned Air Force base in a 1,000 gun shipment. Includes a correct factory box.
Excellent, retains 98% plus of the original blue finish with some scattered light handling marks and some light holster type wear, primarily at the muzzle. The later production grips are also excellent with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some light corner/edge wear.
