Description:

Part of a short lived endeavor in the early 1980s, Jersey Arms Works (aka JAWs) was established to market a semi-automatic pistol copy of the M10 SMG, directly emulating a similar product from RPB. Both RPB and JAWs would be notified by the BATFE that their semi-auto pistols were "readily convertible" due to their open bolt mechanism, and could not be sold without NFA paperwork. JAWs tried to carry on selling both full and semi-auto Avengers with NFA stamps, but the firm folded in 1984. The unsold stock of JAWs receivers was bought by Wayne Daniel of SWD, who refurbished the set, upgraded all of them to run full auto and accept a stock, and then sold them through his firm. About 520 JAWs Avengers were sold, 143 through JAWs and the remaining 377 through SWD. Broadly following the pattern of the original M10, this Avenger integrates a pair of snaps on the sides for use with a sling or shoulder rig, and is fitted with a rigid telescoping buttstock in the style of the SWD Terminator shotgun. Fixed sights, with the four line model, caliber and serial markings on the left side of the frame and four line address on the right, with Cobray "snake" logos on the frame and upper receiver, threaded blued barrel, nylon front grip, and the aforementioned stock. Included with the lot is a barrel extension, soft case, 9 extra magazines and a DeSantis "Mac-Scatter" shoulder rig.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% of the matte gray phosphate finish, showing some light handling marks overall and minor scuffing on the magazine well and right side of the frame. The shoulder rig has some broken/damaged snaps on the magazine pouch, but the accessories are otherwise in good order. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
