Produced in 1856, the second year of production. Gustave Young profile scroll engraving with punch-dot backgrounds are present on the barrel, hammer, loading lever and frame. Five dots are present on top of hammer which denotes Gustave Young's level of embellishment. Front post sight on barrel with standard Model 2 address, Maltese crosses and the "pointing hand". Cylinder is unfluted, with the roll engraved Indian and Cabin scene and matching serial number. Spur trigger and sidehammer. Smooth one piece grip. Walnut case with dark purple lining, brass "COLTS/PATENT" two-cavity mold, brass American Eagle powder flask, and molded bullets.
Fine, with 40% of the faded original blue finish, showing some areas of dark brown patina and mild spotting overall. A few small areas of pitting are visible around the muzzle and on the cylinder. The grips are very good as repaired, with a mended crack running down the front. The case is very good, with a slightly warped lid and wear on the lining and a few minor scratches and pressure dents. Mechanically needs minor work.
