Remington produced less than an estimated 1,000 of these revolving rifles between around 1866 and 1879 using a larger version of the New Model revolver frame fitted with rifle length barrels and fitted with stocks instead of grips. It is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14 1858./E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A./NEW-MODEL" on top of the barrel in front of the notch and folding ladder rear sight and has a dovetail blade front sight. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, cylinder, buttplate, stock, trigger guard bow, and lower tang. The barrel and cylinder are blued. The loading lever, hammer and frame are casehardened. The trigger plate, trigger guard and buttplate are plated in silver. The trigger guard is brass.
