These New Model Army revolvers were manufactured from 1863-1875. They were the second most widely issued revolvers by the Union during the Civil War and continued to be issued in the Indian Wars. This example is exceptional, especially for a Civil War era military contract revolvers given most show heavy wear and finish loss, but it remains excellent overall. The barrel has the standard New Model legend. There are government inspection marks, including a "GP" cartouche on the grip. The barrel and both grip panels are numbered to the gun. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine, retaining 85% bright original high gloss blue finish with finish loss on the butt and rear grip strap and a few scattered areas of flaking turned to brown-gray. 85% original case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are also excellent with minimal handling marks and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent.
