Manufactured from 1870 to 1888, also known as the Model No. 2, this later production Type I derringer was manufactured circa 1868. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the two line address, "E REMINGTON & SONS ILION, N.Y./ELLIOTS PATENT DEC. 12TH 1865," and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel and on the frame under the left grip panel. These were the last series of over/under derringers numbered in sequential order until much later Remington-U.M.C. production. It is fitted with and extractor on the left of the barrels and smooth rosewood grips. Includes a hardwood case with Stephen Grant trade label inside the lid, oiler, cleaning rod, and nine .41 RF cartridges. Also includes a letter from Littlefield Antiques describing the gun. Fine, retains 80% of the original nickel finish with some scattered light flaking, most noticeably on the left side of the barrels. The grips are fine with some mild wear and scattered light handling marks, and retaining about half of the varnish. Mechanically excellent.
