Description:

Manufactured between 1859 and 1874. Blade and notch sights with "ADDRESS SHARPS & HANKINS, PHILADELPHIA, PENN." in the flute on top of the barrel. The right side of the frame is marked "C. SHARPS PATENT/JAN. 25, 1859". This model was made without the side plate or extractor. The firing pin is mounted on the hammer, and there is an interlock between the hammer and the barrel release to keep the pistol from opening or closing unless the hammer is on half cock. Smooth trigger, checkered hammer and barrel release, and fitted with smooth walnut flared butt grips. Includes a factory box with Sharps & Hankins markings inside the lid. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 80% of the bright original blue finish on the barrels and 25% of the original case colors on the frame with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina and a few scattered patches of light surface pitting. The grips are fine with some scattered minor handling marks and flaking of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The box is good with moderate wear and some tears and absent sections on lid.
