Description:

Manufactured from the late-1830s into the 1850s by Blunt & Syms of New York, it is estimated that only a few thousand of these were produced in various configurations, with the majority lacking maker's marks. This example is marked "BLUNT & SYMS/NEW YORK" on top of the frame and has the rare, deep fluted barrel cluster. The frame and back strap feature floral and scroll engraving. It is fitted with an underhammer with flash shield, ring trigger, and smooth walnut bag shaped grips. Includes a hardwood case that holds the pistol, as well as an included brass powder flask, cap tin, ramrod, and single cavity ball mold. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 70% plus of the original blue finish overall with the balance having thinned mostly to a smooth grey-brown patina and crisp engraving. The grips are also very fine with a few scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The relined case is very good with minimal handling/storage marks and one corner of the lid repaired. The accessories are fine with some mild wear.
