Manufactured in 1857-1858. This is a 1st Model with the four line patent/address marking on the top trap and wide cylinder locking notches between nipples. Matching serial number "31" on the grip frame, grip, inside of the tiggerguard, and barrel. Includes the extremely rare cardboard partitioned shipping carton containing double sided powder flask, ramrod and two cavity brass bullet mold. The revolver is pictured in Charles Schif's "Remington's First Revolvers: The Remington Beals .31 Caliber Revolvers" on page 23. According to Schif, "To date, only 3 of these original cartons are known to exist." Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection
Very good, retaining strong traces of original blue and casehardened finishes in the protected areas, otherwise a smooth brown patina. The grip is excellent with some mild-minor handling marks. Mechanically needs work as cylinder does not always rotate when action is cycled. The carton is very fine with some minor wear.
