Description:

Thomas Medbury of New Berlin and Erieville in New York in the early 19th century. This rifle has blade and notch sights, "T Medbury" signed on top of the breech section, single trigger, brass barrel keys and furniture, engraved patch box with pieced side plates, long decorative toe plate, silver wrist escutcheon, silver eagle on the cheek piece, relief carving on the maple stock at the ramrod entry pipe, top of the wrist, along the bottom of the buttstock, and left side of the butt. Rating Definition:

Good as reconverted to flintlock configuration with restored dark brown patina and applied finish on the barrel and the reworked replacement lock, dark aged patina on the silver, mix of bright and aged brass furniture, refinished and repaired stock with repairs mainly above the nose of the lock and top of the wrist, chips around the lock, and general moderate overall wear. Mechanically fine.
