Manufactured in 1901. This rifle features a Lyman beaded blade front sight with filler block in the rear dovetail and a tang mounted peep sight. The barrel is marked with the standard Colt and patent date markings as well as "BROWNING BROS.CO.OGDEN.U." behind the rear sight dovetail. The left side of the receiver is marked with the Rampant Colt. The forearm is smooth but has the outline for a panel of checkering. The buttstock is a straight grip with hard rubber buttplate marked with the Rampant Colt. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection
Fine, retaining 50% plus original blue finish with thinning to a gray brown patina on the balance. The forearm is fine with a repaired crack running the entire length as well as scattered dings and scratches. Buttstock is also fine with half of the original varnish remaining, scattered dings and scratches, and a hairline crack coming off both tangs. Mechanically excellent.
