This statue depicts a large Eagle with wings spread in an elegant display of triumph and head looking to the sky above. The creature is depicted in bronze which has been gilt. The back and wings have taps cut, possibly for a previous hanging display. The statue sits atop a pedestal made of brass with a ball at its top and claw feet. On the ball between the eagles feet is "Given/by/ST. Agnes Guild" in old English font. The middle band is die stamp marked "O. Luetke N.Y." The Guild of St. Agnes is a child care non-profit group which was founded in 1913. They strive to give the opportunity for affordable quality early childhood education. The statues measures 65 inches tall, 27 1/4 inches wide, and 22 inches deep.
Extremely fine overall, the statue and pedestal show some storage and handling marks, repairs at the base of the wings some spots of gilt loss on the chest and wings of the eagle, and an attractive patina on the pedestal. The inscription is clear.
