Manufactured in 1899. 22 inch barrels on Model 1894s are a very scarce special order feature even on the lightweight examples. The half octagon barrel, deluxe walnut and 3/4 magazine tube are also special order features. As Winchester expert and author George Madis noted, "Winchester with a number of special and deluxe features are becoming impossible to find" (see "The Winchester Book," page 409). The rifle is fitted with a beaded blade Lyman front sight, three leaf rear sight and Lyman receiver peep sight. The barrel is marked with the two-line address legend ahead of the rear sight and "30 WCF" at the breech on the top flat and two-line nickel steel marking on the upper left flat. The upper tang has the three-line model/patent date marking. Mounted with a very finely figured, H-style checkered forearm and pistol grip stock. The buttstock is fitted with a Winchester hard rubber shotgun buttplate.
Very good plus, retaining 30% plus original blue finish with a smooth brown-gray patina on the balance. The wood is very good with worn checkering and minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A Winchester Model 1894 rifle with many desirable special order features.
