The brass barrel is marked with London proofs and an "CBF" maker's mark at the breech. The bore is estimated and flares out to just over an inch at the muzzle. The lock is signed "FISHER." The brass furniture is engraved, including an acorn trigger plate finial. The stock has raised shell carving around the barrel tang, serrated grasping grooves in the wrist, and a brass wire inlaid monogram on the wrist that appears to be the initials "JS." This gun was likely used to defend a coach/carriage. Provenance: Lou Wagner; The Milan J. Turk Collection
Very good with aged patina on the brass barrel and furniture, gray and brown patina on the lock along with mild pitting and a crack at the front lock screw, and mild overall wear. The refinished stock is also very good and has crisp carving, repairs in the forend, some small chips at the edges, crazing of the varnish on the butt, crack at the toe, and some general dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
