The included factory letter confirms the current finish and caliber and lists the barrel as 7 1/2 inches (likely a factory error as there is no reason to believe this to be a replacement barrel) when it was shipped to Murta Appleton Co. of Philadelphia, PA on May 23, 1939. The letter also states that the revolver shipped with a square butt and a 3 lb trigger pull. Knowledgeable collectors believe that about 3,500 of these Shooting Master revolvers were built, of which, only 250 were chambered for 45 ACP. Provenance: The Milan J. Turk Collection
Excellent overall, retaining 95% plus original blue, light handling evidence, faint cylinder drag line, minor high edge wear, and sharp checkering on the grips. Mechanically excellent.
