Factory Engraved Cogswell & Harrison 16 Gauge Avant Assisted-Opening Double Barrel Shotgun with Case and Certificate of Origin

Blued Arcus Compress Steel barrels with single white bead sight on the sunken, smooth solid rib, period London proofs, choke constrictions of .006/.013, and chambers proved at 1 oz and measured at 2 3/4 inches with automatic ejectors. The casehardened sideplated, assisted-opening action features floral scroll engraving, double triggers, and tang mounted automatic safety switch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and straight grip stock with blank inscription oval and leather wrapped recoil pad. The included Certificate of Origin confirms the current configuration when delivery was taken on December 19th, 1922 by Sir H. Cook. Sir Cook cannot be positively identified, however, a good candidate is the British aviator and Brigadier General Henry Cook. Includes a Cogswell & Harrison labelled leather bound takedown case with cleaning tool, two snap caps, and canvas cover. Stock measurements: 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs 15 oz.

ConditionVery fine as refurbished, retaining 99% blue finish, 25% case colors, light handling evidence, some wear on the recoil pad, and crisp checkering on the stock and forend. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent.
