SAUER & SOHN, SUHL.", bands of engraving around either breech, and 2 1/2 inch chambers with single extractor. The casehardened scalloped, sideclipped boxlock action displays floral scroll engraving surrounding "J. P. SAUER & SOHN, SUHL" on either side. The gun features double triggers and tang mounted automatic safety switch. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, horn tip inlay, and Deeley style release and pistol grip stock with cheekpiece, blank inscription oval, and hard rubber buttplate. The "B" gun in this lot is only five numbers off of this gun. Includes cleaning tools, four snap caps, two nickel oilers, two leather forend guards, and a canvas bound two gun takedown case that houses the whole set. Very good, retaining 80% original blue finish on the barrels with 40% original blue finish on the triggerguard, mostly silvered patina on the action with some case colors in the protected areas, scattered minor spotting, and mild handling evidence. The wood is also very good with some finish filler at the pistol grip, numerous handling dings, some wear on the buttplate and toe, and crisp checkering. The case and accessories are very fine. Mechanically excellent.
