Description:

Manufactured in 1911 on a size 0 frame. Blued Whitworth Steel barrels with dual white bead sights on the matted, concave solid rib which is marked "PARKER BROS. MARKERS. MERIDEN. CONN. WHITWORTH STEEL.", 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and 2 1/4 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving at either breech along with engraving on the doll's head extension. The casehardened boxlock action displays beautiful carving on the fences and extensive floral scroll engraving covering nearly the entire surface with floral bouquets tastefully spread throughout. The engraving extends to the triggerguard, barrel release, and upper and lower tangs. The gun features a single selective trigger and a tang mounted automatic safety switch. Highly figured, fancy checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings including the Deeley latch release. The pistol grip stock is of equal quality with fancy engraving, blank initial gripcap, and engraved metal buttplate over the checkered bare butt. This gun is listed on page 435 of "Parker Gun Identification & Serialization" by Price and Fjestad, where the configuration is confirmed with the exception of the beavertail forend. Per the chart on page 353 of "The Parker Story" by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote only 4 AAHE Grade guns were ever built with 28 inch barrels in 28 gauge making this a very rare gun. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameters nine inches from the breech measure .557/.559 inches; choke constriction .008/.022 inches; minimum wall thickness .027/.025 inches; 1 5/8 inch drop at comb; 2 5/8 inch drop at heel; 13 3/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 4 oz.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally refurbished, retaining 85% plus blue finish on the barrels with some wear toward the breech, 30% case colors on the action, and light handling evidence. The triggerguard and buttplate both retain 80% plus blue finish with some wear. The wood has been sanded, and the forend is a replacement; otherwise, there are a few small scratches and sharp recut checkering. Mechanically excellent.
