Description:

Introduced in 1935 by Charles J. Manville the "Manville Gun" was designed to fire flare, smoke, and riot gas shells from its 18 round clockwork drum. The left side of the pistol grip is marked with the patent information. The top of the launcher is marked "PAT.APPL'D FOR" twice creating parenthesis around "MANVILLE MFG. CO." The device is broken down and loaded by loosening two large screws on top of the frame, separating the clockwork and trigger assembly from the drum and barrel assembly, the drum is then turned counter clockwise to "load" the internal spring allowing the cylinder to rotate with each pull of the trigger. The most noted use of the Manville Gun was by Indiana National Guard troops during the Terre Haute General Strike of 1935.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 80% original chrome plated finish on the chambers and top plate. The rest of the metal surfaces are covered in a silver gray patina with some pitting above the grip. Grips are also very fine with crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
