Description:

A refined and streamlined successor to the MP38, the MP40 made extensive use of metal stampings and synthetic materials to make a weapon robust enough to withstand the stress of war while being simple enough to manufacture to keep up with the demand. Nearly every armed branch and paramilitary organization in Germany made use of the MP40, and many also found their way into the hands of opposition forces such as the French Resistance and Poland's Home Army, making it one of the signature weapons of the war. This example was manufactured by Erma Waffenwerke (ayf), with "WaA254" proofs overall and "ayf43" on the receiver socket, and appears to have been "deactivated" and subsequently "reactivated". Blade front and two-leaf rear sight, with a blued steel protective rib on the underside of the later production barrel, machined bolt with telescoping captive recoil spring assembly, brown leather sling, a set of hard rubber grips and side panels on the trigger housing, and an underfolding stock. Included with the lot is an extra magazine and two extra extractors.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally restored, with 95% of the blue finish, showing some edge wear and handling marks overall, as well as some covered up pitting/wear. The paneling is in good condition, with mild scuffing and chips, the sling shows mild cracking and wear, and the stock hardware is in good order. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
