Manufactured late in World War II. This features many of the wartime expedient features common for 98k rifles near the war's end such as stamped and brazed barrel bands, and gray phosphate finish. Blade front and tangent rear sights with standard "eagle" firing proofs on the barrel and receiver, "eagle/280" stamp on the barrel, "eagle/245" stamp at the top edge of the receiver, "bcd" production code, and "4" date code. Barrel is unique with concentric circular grooves visible at the muzzle and tightening notch visible at the rear of the tangent sight (possibly a repurposed machine gun barrel, unique!) All visible numbers are matching. Laminated pistol grip stock with a cupped steel buttplate. Includes leather sling.
Very fine overall, retaining 80% plus original phosphate finish with limited handling marks, and dings and scratches on the otherwise fine stock. Mechanically excellent.
