Manufactured in 1935 in a limited production run of 579, the Republican Guard Contract Luger used a 1906 pattern frame with a grip safety, smooth back strap and tapered pencil barrel. Fixed sights, the chamber stamped "GNR" (Guarde Nationale Republicanie) and the Mauser banner on the toggle. The left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel have small "crown/crown/U" firing proofs, and the pistol is numbered in the military manner. This model also has the extractor and lower safety area marked "CARREGADA" and "SEGURANCA" respectively. Straw finished small parts, niter blue pins and screws, checkered grips and nickel magazine with an unmarked alloy base.
Fine, with 70% of the original blue finish, showing areas of gray patina, bright rubbing on the sides of the barrel and on the high edges, mild spotting and scattered handling marks. 40% of the original straw colors are present, concentrated on the takedown lever, ejector and trigger, with the remainder worn to a smooth gray. The grips are very good, with flat spots and dings. Mechanically excellent.
