Description:

Manufactured in 1987, this is an extremely scarce example of an attempt by the Kongsberg factory in Norway to create a commercially viable version of the Model 1914 pistol that had been produced there for the Norwegian military and German Wehrmacht. These pistols were made in collaboration with Benet Arms of Afton, Virginia, who sourced many of the parts from Federal Ordnance for Kongsberg, who then modified them to match, as closely as possible, the original Model 1914 pistols. This involved filling the bevels near the trigger guard, flattening the mainspring housing, removing the Federal Ordnance markings and adding Kongsberg ones, and numbering the pistols continuing where the originals left off. The included 1988 dated factory letter states most of the previously mentioned information as well as saying that a test lot of only 20 pistols was ever completed and were numbered 32855-32874, which includes this example. More information on these pistols can be found on p. 190-196 of "Kongsberg-Colten" by Karl Egil Hanevik, and pistol number 32865, one number before this one is pictured on p. 192. The left of the slide has the standard Kongsberg caliber, model, and serial number markings, with the last three digits repeated on various small parts, "1988/K" is on the right side of the slide, and "BENET ARMS/AFTON VA" is on the right of the frame. Includes an original box with detached label numbered to the gun, leather holster and belt, and a test target numbered to the gun.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 99% plus of the original matte blue finish with some of the small parts and the filled frame bevels showing a slight plum hue and only the slightest handling marks. The grips are also excellent showing some light wear to the black finish, some scattered light handling marks, and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine with some light handling/storage wear, and the holster and belt are near new with only the slightest wear.
