Manufactured from 1897 to 1916. The barrel is fitted with a globe front sight and two scope mounting blocks with the first block slightly obscuring the two-line legend: "STEVENS-POPE" over the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. address. The bottom barrel flat is stamped "20/141" and "P/714." The face of the fame is stamped "EX" and "52." The receiver has a fine factory scroll engraving, double set triggers and lever with full loop. The rifle is also fitted with a Vernier tang sight and a folding palm rest mounted to the two screw forearm. The forearm is numbered to the gun ("357"). The checkered forearm and large Schuetzen buttstock are highly figured walnut. The buttstock is fitted with a heavy Schuetzen style buttplate and has a right handed cheekpiece.
Fine. The barrel retains 30% blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The remaining metal surfaces retain most of the dull period refinished blue finish. The engraving is crisp. The attractive figure wood is also fine with minor dings and scratches, most of the original varnish remaining and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
