Manufactured in 1881. The rifle is fitted with a dovetail Lyman beaded blade front sight, an elevation adjustable rear sight (elevator absent), and a special order set trigger. The second model receiver features a dust cover guide rail attached by two screws and a dust cover with oval finger guide. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two-line address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight and "45-60 WCF" at the breech. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1876." The caliber designation "45-60" is repeated on the cartridge elevator. The lower tang carries the serial number. The straight grip stock is fitted with a trapdoor buttplate (cleaning rod not included).
Fine. The barrel retains 80% original blue finish and the receiver and dust cover retain 40% original blue finish with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The once repaired magazine tube has been removed and exhibits scratches overall with touches of cold blue near the muzzle. Traces of original nitre blue remain on the loading gate. 20% original case colors remain on the hammer and lever. The wood is also fine with minor dings and scratches. The follower is absent. Mechanically excellent.
