The Model 1873 is one of the most famous of all American firearms and has been popularly known as "the Gun that Won the West" due to its reputation with pioneers. High condition antique Winchester lever actions are becoming increasingly difficult to find. We are proud to present this stellar Model 1873 in benchmark condition. The condition alone will make this rifle a stand out piece to any lever action collection. The accompanying factory letter confirms the round barrel in .32 caliber and plain trigger as well as being received in the warehouse on May 4, 1884 and shipped on May 26. The rifle is fitted with a combination Beach front sight, an elevation adjustable rear sight, and a tang peep sight. The peep sight is a rare early model mounted to the tang by a single screw, leaving the "MODEL 1873" marking clearly visible. The receiver is a third model with integral dust cover guide rail and dust cover with serrated finger grip rear edges. The front of the receiver has the step found on 22, 32 and 38 caliber rifles. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two-line New Haven/King's improvement patent legend ahead of the rear sight and "32-CAL" at the breech. The caliber designation is repeated on the brass cartridge elevator: "32 CAL." The serial number is located on the lower tang between the tang screw and lever. The loading gate is a fiery nitre blue. The hammer, lever and buttplate are casehardened. The remaining metal surfaces are blued. The plain forearm and straight grip stock are nicely figured straight grain American walnut. The buttstock is fitted with a crescent buttplate.

Excellent, retaining 98% bright original polish blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. 97% original nitre blue remains on the loading gate. 95% original case colors remain on the lever. 97% original case colors remain on the hammer. 30% original case colors remain on the buttplate. The wood is also excellent with minimal minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. This is a choice condition Winchester Model 1873 Rifle that will be difficult to improve upon. It will be a welcomed addition to even the most advanced lever action collections.
