Description:

This 14 3/8 x 15 5/8 inch colorized print features a Native American man sitting within the skeleton of a sweat lodge that has yet to be covered with blankets or hides, as well as two tepees in the background. It is marked with L.A. Huffman's copyright in the lower right corner and "Cheyenne Plenty Bird In Sweat Lodge" in the center-left, both in white ink. The frame measures 16 x 17 1/4 inches. Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1931) was among the few photographers to capture Native American and ranching life in Montana in the late 19th century. Many of his original photographs were enlarged and/or colorized by him later in his life.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, showing a distinct image and color with some very minor wrinkles and generally minimal wear. The frame is fine with some mild wear and a handwritten mark on the glass in the lower right corner.
