Cased James Woodward & Sons London Retailer Marked First Year Production Colt House Model "Cloverleaf" Spur Trigger Revolver

Manufactured in 1871, the first year of production. The top of the barrel has the standard two-line address and the right of the frame has been engraved "JAMES WOODWARD & SONS./64 ST JAMES'S STREET. LONDON." by the retailer. The chambers of the cylinder and bottom of the barrel have British proofs, the butt, barrel, and inside of each grip panel are numbered "1211"; and the front cylinder face is numbered "1037". Includes a hardwood case with James Woodward & Sons interior label, cleaning rod, key, and thirteen .41 RF cartridges.

ConditionFine, retains 60% plus of the bright original blue finish and 40% of the original silver, which shows an attractive antique patina along with the exposed brass, the balance being mostly a smooth grey patina. The grips are very fine with a few scattered light handling marks and retain most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine with some scattered minor handling/storage marks.
