Description:

Offered here is the finest known S&W Model No. 1 Third Issue revolver known to exist and is complete with a period correct partitioned case. The Model No. 1 Third Issue was introduced in 1868 and discounted in 1881. This spectacular example features the standard one-line address/patent dates marking on the barrel rib, a right grip panel numbered to the gun, and matching assembly mark on the grip frame, barrel, and cylinder. The partitioned case contains a case key, cleaning rod, and an empty UMC "picture" box of .22 caliber cartridges with green label featuring an illustration of a S&W Model No. 1 Third Issue Revolver. Provenance: The Sheryl Cheely Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% bright original blue finish with patinated faking the barrel and cylinder. The grips are also excellent with minimal handling evidence and nearly all original varnish remaining. Nearly all original case colors remain on the hammer. The cylinder does not lock, otherwise action functions properly. The case is fine with a stabilized hairline crack on the lid, minor handling/storage marks, and typical high spot wear on the lining. A once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire the finest known S&W Model No. 1 Third Issue Revolver. Don't let this one get away!
