The nicely sculpted lock is unmarked. The adjustable double set triggers have an "N" or "Z" marking at the tail of the plate. The furniture is iron. The stock has a horn forend cap, nice molding and shaped lock panels, raised relief scroll carving, a fluted wood patch box lid, "18 BIRK 83" in red inside the compartment, a nicely shaped cheek rest with staples for a vent pick below, and a raised relief reposed stag on the left side of the butt. Sling swivels are fitted to the front of the extended trigger guard bow and through the forend near the tip. The ramrod has a horn tip. Provenance: The Tom Lewis Collection

Rating Definition:

Very good with silver-gray patina throughout, some minor pitting, refaced frizzen, and general mild wear. The stock is fair and has crisp carving, some chips and slivers absent or repaired mainly along the edges of the forend, a repair by the breech, minor scratches and dings, some small insect holes, and some darker spots. Mechanically fine.
