These mid-19th century pistols were finished by the esteemed shop of LePage Moutier in Paris and are thus marked "fni P. LePage Moutier a Paris" in raised silver inlay on the top barrel flats. The Liege proofed barrels also have a mix of engraved and silver inlaid floral patterns, dovetailed bead front sights, "ACIER FONDU" (fluid steel) marked ahead of the forend tips, and "1" and "2" respectively in gold on the coordinately decorated breech plugs. The locks and furniture also have coordinating inlays and engraving. The stocks have "2043" marked to the left of the upper tang, relief carved interlaced scroll patterns and fluting, and "JN" inside the forends, a mark often found on pistols of this type in the period with heavily carved stocks. The case is fitted to the pistols and contains a mallet, reversible nipple wrench/screwdriver, a ball mold, powder flask, loading and cleaning rods, balls, and a key.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 90% plus period refinished blue finish on the barrel, mix of bright and aged patina on the inlays, moderate oxidation, and general mild wear mainly from storage. The refinished stock is also fine and has crisp relief carving, minor flaking at the tail of the lock, and generally light overall wear. Mechanically fine. The repaired and refinished case and accessories are also very good.
