Description:

This exceptional antique British revolver is the product of the Adams's Patent Small Arms Co. Ltd. and is based on John Adams's patent from 1867, an improvement of his design from the year prior. These revolvers were among the first double action centerfire revolvers. Adams's revolvers were also adopted by the British government in the 1870s. The Model 1867B revolver differs from the Model 1867A in that that B uses a push button to release the cylinder pin. The revolver has a dovetailed blade front sight, integral notch rear sight at the rear of the top strap, "ADAMS'S PATENT SMALL ARMS Co" on the top strap, "391, STRAND LONDON," on the top of the barrel, "No 2931" on the side of the cylinder, the Adams trademark and "ADAMS'S PATENT No 2931." on the right side of the frame, "2931/JC" in the hammer well, London proofs, a lanyard ring on the buttcap, black silver escutcheon on the back of the grip, and extensive English scroll engraving throughout. The case has an Adams trade label with instructions inside the lid, two partially full Eley tins of cartridges, cleaning rod, oil bottle, and key.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 90% plus original bright high polish blue finish, crisp engraving and markings, bright hammer, aged patina on the silver escutcheon, and general light wear including some scratches and small marks. The grip is also excellent and has crisp checkering and minimal light handling and storage marks. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are all very fine with mild age and storage related wear, and the case has a very fine original interior retailer's label. Definitely a very attractive, highly embellished, early production English double action centerfire revolver.
