Fantastic pre-Victorian French sailor with wheat girl bronze by Leon Pilet (French 1840-1916). This bronze is depicting a French sailor dressed in naval attire holding a paddle so as to take his French wheat/fruit girl maiden on a romantic trip on a boat ride on the Seine river in Paris. The girl is carrying a basket of apples in her hand & the other hand shafts of wheat. This is a finely dressed maiden being courted by her naval boyfriend. The bronze is signed "Pilet" on the base. Measurements: 11x14x27 inches.

Very good with some storage and handling marks.
