Outstanding World War I U.S. Contract Colt Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol

Shipped to Springfield Armory on 26 February 1918, well before the end of World War I. The left of the slide is marked with the two-line, two-block patent dates and address with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations, while the right has the standard "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY" marking. The left of the frame has the U.S. property marking and "JMG" inspection mark, and the serial number is on the right. The full blued barrel is marked "P/H" on the chamber, "5" on the bottom, and "G" on the right of the lug. Fitted with blade and notch sights, wide checkered hammer, long smooth trigger, short grip safety, diamond pattern checkered grips, and an unmarked two-tone magazine. The serial number of this pistol falls between two pistols with known issuance, 241498 and 242690, which were issued to the New Jersey National Guard and the 108th Infantry New York National Guard respectively.

ConditionExcellent plus, as issued, retains 98% plus of the original brushed blue finish with some very slight thinning to grey patina visible on the grip straps, and a few scattered light handling/takedown marks. The grips are also excellent plus with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. This is truly a benchmark 1917 production Colt Model 1911 pistol!
