Description:

Manufactured in 1945, the final year of World War II. The left side of the slide is marked with the two-line address and patent dates followed by a Rampant Colt, while the right has the standard Service Model Ace and caliber markings. The right side of the frame has the U.S. property marking over the serial number, and "77" on the trigger guard. The right side of the frame has a "JSB" inspection mark and "e/VP" on the trigger guard. The barrel is unmarked with a polished chamber. It is fitted with blade front and adjustable notch rear sights, short stamped trigger, checkered reinforced grips, long grip safety, arched serrated mainspring housing, and a full blue magazine with correct Service Model Ace markings on the base. Provenance: The Steven Preston Military Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 90% plus of the original parkerized finish with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey patina, primarily on edges, and a few uneven grind marks on the right lower edge of the slide which appear to be a factory error prior to the finish being applied. The grips are also very fine with a few scattered light blemishes and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
