This automatic carbine was remanufactured/produced by Rock Island Armory Incorporated of Geneseo, Illinois, chiefly using military surplus M1 components. The receiver is Underwood, originally an M1 with an overstruck "2" on the receiver ring. Unmarked blade front and "JAO" adjustable rear sights, with a Winchester barrel ("RIA" mark added to right side of chamber), "MMQ" Type III barrel band, "SS" flip safety, unmarked M2 magazine catch, "SG" recoil plate, unmarked low wood stock with "IO" 4-rivet handguard, "SG" operating rod, cast trigger housing with no legible markings, "7161837" auto sear, and a round "A.I." bolt. Two magazines, an "IS" marked M1 and a "J" marked M2, are included.
Very good, with 90% of the refinished parkerization, with finished-over areas of moderate pitting visible on the receiver, edge wear, and mild handling marks. The stock is fair, with cracking and chipping around the recoil plate, along with some light scratches and dents. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
