Description:

A descendant of the U.S. Springfield M1 Garand rifle, the BM59 is essentially the Italian cousin to the American M14 Battle Rifle; a different design, with a higher emphasis on parts commonality with the original M1, but intended to fill the same niche as a full power combat rifle that would give higher ammo capacity and full auto capability when needed. A limited number of these rifles were commercially imported by Springfield Armory prior to the 1986 registry cutoff. Blade front and adjustable peep rear sights, with a grenade launching flash hider, grenade sight (with range card insert for Energa-pattern grenades), bayonet lug and bipod integrated to or mounted on the gas system. The barrel is marked "PB 1964 7.62 mm. 03-097-A-1" with the receiver marked with the Beretta address and serial number on the heel and "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" on the left side. Smooth unmarked pistol grip stock with sling swivels, a folding shoulder rest, rubber recoil pad and a trapdoor compartment. Includes a matching hand numbered Springfield Armory factory box.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 99% original matte black phosphate finish with some light handling marks, and two scratches on the left of the receiver near the selector switch. Stock is also excellent with some light handling marks. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
