Description:

The French Reibel Model 1931 machine gun, designed by Lt. Colonel Reibel, was used in French tanks in the World War II era and in fortifications such as the Maginot line built by France in the 1930s to deter invasion by Germany. It is gas-operated, firing from an open bolt in full automatic only, with a firing rate of approximately 750 rounds per minute. This example is meant for use in a JM twin mount which consisted of a thick, metal, square frame, sized to fit into a standard French fortification. It correctly has no front sight present and an adjustable rear sight. A charging handle is mounted to the right side of the receiver. Smooth pair of hardwood panels on the curved pistol grip. Includes a detachable 150-round side mounted magazine.

Rating Definition:

Fine as deactivated, retaining 70% arsenal black bakelite finish with scattered chips and scratches, some areas of light surface corrosion and brown patina, and areas of the original blue finish showing through. Grips are good with various cracks, some chips at the edges, and a re-glued section at the top of the right panel. The chamber is welded and plugged, otherwise it retains its internals and cycles properly. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478. Further, while the item is currently not shootable, it is not an "unserviceable" or "Dewat" weapon by ATF definitions.
