Manufactured about 1897. Blade front and tangent rear sights, with the top of the chamber marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N", the left side is marked with a "crown/crown/U" German test proof, and an Oberndorf antler proof on the right flat. Matching numbers are present on the frame, hammer, follower and floorplate. The left side of the magazine is engraved "PATSTONE & SON./SOUTHAMPTON.", a British gunmaker and sporting goods dealer active in the 1800s and 1900s. With a matching number shoulder stock.
Fine, with 40% of the original blue finish, showing scattered mild spotting, bright edge wear and areas of brown patina. The grips are very good, with a faint number stamped into the left panel, mild dents and scuffs, and some damage to the screw. The stock is very good, with some dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
